The Entertainment Center: How to Design One Perfectly

There are as many opinions on an entertainment center, as there are options when designing one.

A well-crafted, thoughtfully designed entertainment center can function a much needed anchor to any space. Whether in a more formal sitting room, comfortable family room, or chaotic children’s space.

Don’t Overpower the Room

The first, and perhaps most important suggestion we can make on this topic is to ensure that your design will not encroach on too much of the useable space around it.

Just because you have a one hundred and twenty inch span of wall, doesn’t mean you need to cover it with cabinetry. Integrate closed and open storage options; use both negative and positive space.

Have a Plan for your Entertainment Center

The entertainment center you’re planning to create for your space should have a predetermined purpose. Otherwise, you might create one that you are unable to decorate—or one without enough space.

Will some of the drawers be used for storing media? Will you ever get a larger TV? Want to display your library? As you decide which cabinetry features to include, try to also decide explicitly what they’ll used for. This way, you have plenty of useable space, and none wasted.

Use Natural & Neutral Tones

This doesn’t mean that it will be a boring, unattractive addition to your space. But, similar to not wanting to overpower your space with size—you don’t want to overpower it with design either. The best entertainment centers start to fade into the background, and feel like a cohesive part of the room.

Your Entertainment Center Works for You

In the end, it’s your space. If you want to incorporate an entertainment center, work with a design-to-install firm who can guarantee its functionality and quality. When you’re ready to start planning such an element: reach out.

We look forward to creating something truly trend setting with you.
